The Twitter Conference and Overall Module Thoughts

The Twitter Conference and Overall Module Thoughts On the 30th March, at 11am, our Twitter Conference went live. This is a page posted to twitter consisting of eight parts, showcasing our campaign in its entirety. We devised these eight posts as drafts, and once they had been approved by our seminar tutor, we uploaded them. A link to our twitter can be found below. Twitter Conference This marked the end of our communications campaign.  From devising a survey to conducting an interview, our team learned may skills during this term. Personally, I enjoyed learning to use editing softwares such as imovie to edit short videos and audacity to edit our podcast. I am thankful for the opportunity to improve my teamwork skills, an asset that im sure will prove useful in all parts of my career going forward. I think it would have been good to have an evaluation meeting at the end of each work to discuss what went well ad what did not. This would have helped us understand what we could d...

The Infographic, 28/02/22, Manager

The Infographic - Week 7, 28/02/22 - 07/03/22 My role this week was production manager. My job was to coordinate the work done by the group, and make sure any deadlines were met. First I experimented with Microsoft Excel, and made a Gantt chart. The idea was to have it accessible by the group so that deadlines could be seen clearly laid out on a daily basis. The first draft of the chart can be seen below. I eventually decided it would be easier to use our group's WhatsApp group chat to collaborate. However, I did not need to nudge anyone along, as the other group members demonstrated an impressive ability to stick to deadlines. Soon, we had finished our infographic and posted it to our Instagram. The main aim of our infographic was to display data from our survey, which we had earlier conducted on students at the University of Exeter. The survey asked questions about personal device ownership, financial backgrounds, pressures to have technology when starting university, and the Suc...

The Video, 07/03/22, Researcher

The Video - Week 8, 07/03/22 - 14/03/22 This week my role was researcher. This involved thinking of ideas for the video content and editing. I started by writing a research document to send to the group. In my research document, I talked about the importance of engaging the audience. Often a viewer’s interest is decided within the first five-ten seconds of view-time. For this reason, it is important to catch the attention of the viewer as soon as possible, and to keep it. I also put forward some ideas for editing, such as: ·         Music - If there will be any, and to make sure the tone of the music matches with the topic. ·         Length – shorter and more concise would be ideal to maintain attention of viewers. ·         Voice over – Should be clear, easily understandable, natural and unstilted. Good audio quality is a must. ·       To m ake sure our g...

The Podcast, 14/03/22, Designer

The Podcast, Week 9, 14/03/22 - 21/03/22 This week my role was the product designer. This meant my job was to edit the raw audio files into a podcast. On Tuesday we interviewed Vics Brown, the vice manager of the student guild at the University of Exeter. We again visited the Drama Department, where we borrowed a laptop and microphone. We then went to Vic's office to conduct the interview. This was not a flawless endeavour, as we quickly realised our microphone was not connecting to our laptop. After some troubleshooting, we managed to connect it, however we then realised, after talking to Vics for a few minutes, that the microphone was not recording audio. Unsure of the problem, we decided to use my phone's voice memos app to record the interview, and the phone's microphone had to suffice. From this point onward the interview flowed smoothly, with Vics being a clearly capable speaker.  It was fortunate that our group was able to work together and figure out a solution, a...
